how to increase value by percentage on the same cell in numbers

Numbers does not have a built-in way do that "in the same cell". Your options are to to do it in another column and copy/paste the results to the original column or to install a shortcut that can do it.


  1. Create a temporary new column
  2. Put a formula in the column, something along the lines of =A*125% if you want to multiple the cells in column A by 125%
  3. Copy the results
  4. Paste Formula Results into the original column. This command is in the Edit menu.
  5. Delete the temporary column

With the shortcut you will select a range of cells, run the shortcut, and enter the math operation you want to perform. It will do the operation in the same cells. The shortcut requires decimal numbers for the math operation; you cannot use percentages. The entry will be *1.25 not *125%
