"Unlock iPhone to use accessory" error

Anyone else having this problem? It was working and charging fine last night until earlier where a notification popped up and says "Unlock iPhone to use accessory". When I did unlock my iPhone, it stopped charging completely. I've also tried turning on/off the USB Accessories and restarting it but to no avail. I've also tried the solutions from the forums on how to fix it but still nothing. I've done changing the cable, plugging it in on a socket and on my computer but nothing worked. Tried to force restart and it worked for a short while before the same error popped up again and charging stopped. My last resort is a full factory reset. Does a factory reset fix the issue and fix the error? I'm asking this before resetting my iPhone so I don't regret on wiping everything clean from my photos and music.
