Emagic AMT8 Midi IN works for all stacked units whereas Midi OUT doesn't

Hi all,

This is my first post here I think. Anyway, to the point:

I am using four AMT8 MIDI Interfaces with M1 mac and it all works fine until it doesn't.

All four units get MIDI input and Logic Pro registers the MIDI signals. However, when I try to trigger notes / cc data or any other MIDI data to unit #4, MIDI is not passed out from Logic.

First three units passes MIDI to my synths, but 4th doesn't. Is that something to do with the new driver released for macOS?

This is the driver I have installed: Unitor Family Driver v3

Or is this an issue within Logic that it can not handle multiple MIDI devices?

I am not using external instrument option due to multiout instruments. Like Novation Supernova II has 8 outputs, so I have 4 stereo tracks in monitoring mode to get the audio from SN II. Some channels (per project) have different output assigned to them.

I can provide further details if needed. Thank you in advance.

Why are you using four midi interfaces? It looks like the AMT8 has 8 midi in/out. Do you really have 32 midi devices going on at one time? Also those are REALLY old interfaces circa 2000, however going to Unitor's link, the driver should let them work. Also how are you hooking up all the interfaces to your laptop? If you are using a hub, it might be a problem.

All connected with MIDI and yes, we have 192 inputs in our audio device driving into LPX. This is pretty usual for big studios. AMT8 is designed to work in daisy chained configuration which it does, but the last device is not passing MIDI out from Logic like I explained earlier. Maybe it is due to Logic internal limitation of midi devices? I don't know. Haven't tested with other DAWs yet, but I can do the test in Pro Tools, Live, Studio One, Cubase, Bitwig or Reaper.

AMT8 device is old, but the driver is supported in Silicon. USB hub ain't the issue, my M1 Pro Max can handle 192 audio streams at the same time (UA Apollo stack + Dante + AVB) and 4K + Full HD displays - No issues. That MIDI out for the last AMT8 in the chain is the issue here.

If I do sequence for the MIDI track in Logic for all of the stuff, they output MIDI, even the last unit, but keyboard input is not passed to last device.
