My Singing Monster App unauthorized credit card charges

Has anyone had credit card charges from an App called My Singing Monster?

My child installed this game in our Ipad but my credentials are always required for purchases. Somehow this App was able to bypass that setting. I'm now seeking a refund with Apple, hopefully they will understand this issue and refund the money. Has anyone experienced this and what steps did you take? Thanks.
