Solved - How do I launch Calc with a shortcut from any App?
So I came across the issue of launching calculator app with a keyboard shortcut, but the proposed short didn't work - now it does.
Do as follows:
This was done on MacOS Ventura
- Launch automator app (native apple application) - watch out: first time launching the app, a finder window appears. Ignore it, and 'launch' the app again and a very distinct application window will appear.
- Select the gear icon (either service, quick command or similar)
- In the top left corner area there is a search bar - search launch application, select it and either double click or drag it to the blanc area to the right
- In the 'launch app' section now appearing in the blanc section, select any app (in my case calculator) - Do not change anything in the section above the 'launch app' window.
- Simply close the automator application window, and a save dialogue box will appear - give the service a name eg. LaunchCalculator
- Open system preferences (make sure the system pref. app has been shut down and restartet after creating the service above) and find keyboard
- Select the 'Keyboard Shortcuts' button to open the shortcuts menu
- A new tab has appeared (hopefully) called 'General' and here you should see the new service you just created.
- Add a key or a combination to the service and you are done 👌
