Version 16.82 of Microsoft 365 has started saving my word documents to onedrive instead of on My Mac

I have searched videos and other sights and still having trouble

iCloud Drive stuck at download/upload iCloud drive is stuck at downloading stuff in the Finder and nothing is properly synchronise in time. It always takes hours or days before my two Macs have access to the same updated files from iCloud drive. It's been years since I have this recurrent issue. Stop iCloud Automatic Downloads w/Optimize Mac Storage off? How do I turn on iCloud Drive on my MBP without it automatically downloading files? Why does it do this? My files are completely uploaded to iCloud and I would like to be able to browse in Finder without it automatically downloading files, then choosing what I would like to download. I have "Optimize Mac Storage" off When I turn iCloud on it begins automatically downloading a bunch/most/all of my files Currently have 2TB iCloud, currently using ~ 700 GB MBP is 1TB Currently turned iCloud Drive off to stop this process Home internet data caps make this issue more frustrating. Any help is appreciated.

Word saves documents where you tell it to.

If your File > Save dialog looks like the following, click the "On My Mac" button (see red arrow) and the Save dialog will change to the second screenshot below where you can select a location on your Mac to save the file.
