I failed to erase all files, documents, etc. from my old early 2015 macbook air before I disable "Find My Mac" function. Now the macbook is locked. How do I unlock it to go back and erase the files, documents, etc.?

I no longer have my original receipt to prove to Apple I'm trustworthy to unlock it to reset it and/or erase it.
If I cannot unlock it, to reset it, what happens to the data, info etc. on the computer when Apple receives it? My guess is that they are not going to resell it.
