When sending a message with a Gif from my iPhone, the option is completely gone

Edit! I found the Tenor Gif option! Click on the + and then Stickers and you can then select the Gif keyboard. Extra steps but I’m glad it’s there

I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!

I had to go to the App Store and (re)download the “GIF Keyboard” (app icon is blue and says GiF). After I did that I was able to add it back in. Go to Settings-General-Keyboards-Add New Keyboard.

then I searched for gif and it popped up. I added it and now it’s back on my keyboard! Do not have to go to the + and more and #images! Now it’s right next to the space bar!!!!

The 17 release moved Tenor under the + sign. The update a few days ago further buried it under Stickers. A number of users, with up to date iPhones and iPads, have experienced this change. Both my devices are kept up to date and I use Tenor gifs everyday, so I was aware Tenor had moved immediately.

When you want to add a gif to a message you are typing:

Tap the + to the left of the enter text field

Swipe up through the options till you see the #images (red circular icon) and tap it to see gifs

This is helpful, thank you, but it sucks that it’s now gone for all apps other than iMessage. I hope they can just put it back to how it was. its such a massive downgrade :(

update: I had already gone back into keyboard settings to re-add gif keyboard. It hadn’t worked initially, but after some time and restarting the apps, it now appears again.

Hey! This really annoyed me too. But I was able to reinstall the Gif app and then readd it as a keyboard in settings. Now I have the little world icon back and everything is working as it should again!

Download GIF KEYBOARD.. Add to “+“

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and was up to date on everything. Mine also disappeared today. Can confirm I had to click on the “Globe” icon and then click “GIF Keyboard” to see the gifs. I think #Images is replacing it.

I don't know what to tell you. Apple made this change in September when they rolled out iOS 17. Gifs have been where I said to look for them since then. It's most definitely not a recent change and most definitely didn't happen yesterday.

The Tenor Gif keyboard is no longer an options- it has more than the Images option for searching for gifs. How do I bring back the tenor Gif option in the +? It just disappeared and I use that daily. Images sucks.

I totally agree that images suck on the newest apple update. I used both images and gif’s daily, multiple times per day both in text as well as on Facebook. Now the images are lessened, and gif’s are completely gone. Images are lame.

It's been this way since iOS 17 was released in September. So perhaps you were on iOS 16 and jumped to 17.3.1 yesterday?

I keep my phone up to date and I had gif options until this afternoon. They suddenly disappeared. So I don’t think she was just using the old IOS. Something caused it to disappear as of today.

Thanks for the confirmation that we’re not just blundering buffoons as other answers might have suggested. One second it was there and the next it was gone.
