How do I sync my gmail account between my computer, my iPhone and my iPod?

Be certain you are using Gmail’s IMAP features, which keep your emails on Google’s host. The older POP3 method keeps separate email copies on your device(s).
Do this by removing your current email account (Settings > Mail > Accounts > Gmail > Remove Account) and then re-adding it doing Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Google.
*** Note the account deletion recommended above will delete all Gmail messages on this device.
