Unable to connect to a specific wifi, is it the router?

I bought a macbook pro with the Apple M1 prochip and Monterey 12 OS in early 2023. All has been great, take it everywhere without any wifi connectivity issues. I've used public wifi and various in home wifi accounts without issue until very recently. I cannot connect to one particular in home wifi at all. All other devices connect including multiple iphones, another macbook air and television streaming devices. The router is a TP Link Archer AX 55, AX 3000 wifi 6. The ISP was out the last time I was in this home and replaced the modem and updated some wiring. Again, all other devices worked, still cannot get my macbook to connect. Has anyone run into this issue, any ideas. I'm bout ready to buy a router to take to this home with me. I work from my computer and need access. Yes, I've had access in the past with my current macbook. Thank you for any insight....

Forget this Wi-Fi network in Settings, and re-add it?

Checked that Wi-Fi router box for more current firmware?

Do you have a third-party VPN app installed? If so, remove that, and test again.

Is the Wi-Fi router box configured for MAC security or such?

On your Macbook forget that WiFI network in Network Settings, accept the setting change, exit, turn off WiFi and reboot your Macbook.

Then reboot the router. Then check to see if it's doing MAC address filtering (you will need another computer to log into the router in order to check that). If so, make sure your Macbook's MAC address (aka WiFi ID) is in the router's permission list. Also verify the network name (SSID), security type and password.

On your Macbook, turn on WiFi and try to connect to the network, making sure you use the correct SSID, security & password. See if that works. If not, let us know.

I have done the forget network and re-add numerous times. Trying to get access to the router to update the firmware. No VPN. I've seen comments about Mac security before and need to investigate that a bit. I'm going to work towards getting the firmware updated first and see what that does. Apple support also suggested I reinstall my OS.

Router firmware and a router reset would be my first target.

I’m unimpressed with that router vendor too, based looking for the tech specs and related info on their website.

PS: Somewhat confusingly, MAC security and Mac security are quite different things. MAC is Media Access Control, and commonly part of modern networking across ~all computers. Mac is the Apple marketing name used for certain models of computers. All current Macs have MAC addresses. MAC addresses might not be Macs.
