My iPhone 8+ needs a new battery installed.

I am tired of dealing with Best Buy. They are horrible. They are "unfortunately" the only authorized certified Apple repair place near me. What risk am I taking by taking the phone to a non-apple certified repair shop with great google reviews? Thanks--

I wouldn't have any concern about letting BestBuy replace the battery in my iPhone. Their service techs have been trained by Apple and they are not only authorized by Apple, but they will install a genuine authentic Apple Battery in your iPhone. If they are local to you and you'd prefer to not have to send your phone away, a BestBuy store will typically be able to replace the battery the same day. Of course, it's completely your choice, but given your options, it would seem to be the best option for you.

Ok, thanks. I don't mind using Best Buy. I can't afford a new phone right now and I simply want the battery replaced. I have been to Best Buy three times trying to get this resolved. I have already paid them for the service. The 1st time, I dropped the phone off and I told them I would be back to pick it up the next day. I would simply be w/o a phone for a day and that was fine. They called me the following day and told me they could not do it and they had to contact Apple. I went by and picked the phone back up and waited on them to contact me again.

Chat on 5/21/21 with BestBuy to complain>>>

I brought my iPhone 8+ in on 12/3/2021 to have the battery replaced. They told me they damaged a battery component when attempting the repair and told me they would have me an exact match refurb iPhone 8+ from Apple sent in as a replacement. They told me about 5 business days. I have heard nothing back from Best Buy. I need a status update, please. I have been patiently waiting. They gave me my phone back. It still works fine. I have already paid them for the battery replacement.

Then they contacted me again after I complained they never contacted me. They told me to come back in. They then apologized and said they could replace the battery but had to get the OEM from Apple. They never did contact me back and I had some health issues in the meantime and forgot about it bc any stress was making my illness worse during this time. My phone still works ok, says 67% capacity and says battery's performance has seriously degraded. Ugh---I have another appointment to see Best Buy and luckily I still have the original receipt where I paid them for a service they never completed.

I can think of a few things to think about before you take the phone to a non-authorized shop:

A non-genuine battery will probably not display any information about Battery Health, so if your battery status is important to you, install a genuine Apple battery. You will see a constant notice about an "unknown part" on the phone.

If you are thinking of trading the phone in for a newer iPhone, the iPhone 8+ will be worth zero on trade with a non-genuine battery.

If your phone needs other service, an authorized Apple service shop will not even look at the phone if non-genuine parts have been installed on the phone.
