Screenshot tools asks for permission everytime I start it

Everytime I start my screenshot app it asks to allow the app for "Screen capture" . Once I allow it, it works for a short period of time before asking again. I've checked in my settings, it's already allowed to screen capture. Not sure why it has to ask everytime.

It's not about a 3rd party app. Firefox, Brave all these browsers are also 3rd party app yet when I do google meet call, it doesn't have to ask the same permission all the time.
Also, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, still not working.
I also gave it full disk access, although that wasn't the issue anytime, yet it still asks the same permissions.

So are saying you uninstalled <shottr> and tested...

Isn't your 'shottr" directly related to screen shots(?) —third party browsers have nothing to do with screen shots.

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot  as normal and test.  Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most* extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all non-essential third party peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

3rd party browsers also require screen sharing permission, when doing video calls and you have to "share screen" , it's the same permission that's given to the browser.

However in case of 3rd party browsers, we don't need to give the same permission again and again. However in case of a screenshot app, we need to do this.

Screenshot tools can be an important part of one's workflow for important tasks. I have used CleanShot X in the past, but a couple of months ago I started having the issue described in this thread, so I decided to uninstall it and install Shottr instead. They're similar apps with similar functionality, and I was hoping the latter wouldn't cause this bug.

But it still did, so it's not an issue with 3rd party software. It's clearly an issue with macOS itself. For this kind of app in particular, macOS fails to persist the user permission for screen recording.

I'm on a 2021 M1 MBP, running Sonoma 14.4. Should be the latest version, as I always update my software whenever prompted. I have tried all the obvious things: uninstalling the software, re-installing, testing with a different app that does the same action, restarting my machine, etc.

This bug keeps happening, at least once a day, and any help will be appreciated.

seem your post was edited, removing a critically important insight— what you wrote:

" I have tried all the obvious things: uninstalling the software, re-installing, testing with a different app that does the same action, restarting my machine, running cleaning/maintenance scripts (from CleanMyMac)."

CleanMyMac is one of the worst app you could install. I would start there, look for some official uninstaller.

After you rid the machine of this akin to malware.

CleanMyMac is known to cause nothing but issues on the macOS

if I had on-going issues with a third party app I would simply delete it.
