I am on a Mac Studio attempting to register my new key. Following Apple interactions, when the key I inserted and the push button activates (blue flashing light), I promptly get a text message on my phone that google has blocked someone?? attempting to get into my account. I assume the security key had to get into google to be registered, so that make sense. But now I am locked out of google to get the security code. Has anyone seen this??.

Readers had this issue with google mail, but it might apply here as well.

The issue appears to be Safari's "advanced tracking and fingerprinting protection". Go to Safari's Settings -> Advanced and uncheck "Use advanced tracking and fingerprinting protection".

Thanks, I went to Safari and set it up as in the screen shot, but also unchecked "Allow privacy-preserving measurements of ad effectiveness". Is your theory Safari is blocking googles attempt to register the security key?
Try it.
if you can make your google connection, we all learned something.
If not, we have to think of something else.
