The MuseScore app on MacBook Air running Monterey doesn't launch.

On a MacBook Air M1, the MuseScore app downloaded from MuseScore.org, fails to start. The icon keeps bouncing in the Dock but the app never starts. Opening the "Force Quit" window lists MuseScore but does not indicate it is "not responding." The Security setting allows applications downloaded from the App Store and identified developers.

What other setting needs to changed so the MuseScore app will open and run?

From what I can tell, it seems that this application is made for Intel macs.

Now that does not mean that it can't work in an M1 mac. It could work using Rosetta, but perhaps for some reason it is not working for you. I am on an Intel mac, so I cannot test right now (I might later on an M1 at the office).

You could try manually installing Rosetta, and seeing if that helps.

In Terminal, type

softwareupdate --install-rosetta

On a MacBook Air M1 running macOS Monterey 12.6, the MuseScore app downloaded repeatedly from MuseScore.org simply fails to start.

Security Preferences are set so to Allow applications Downloaded from the App Store and identified developers. Attempting to open the MuseScore app causes its icon to bounces up and down in the Dock, but the app never opens.

Invoking the "Force Quit" window shows MuseScore in the list of running apps, but does not indicate MuseScore is "not responding." However, selecting MuseScore and Force Quit does stop the icon from bouncing up and down in the Dock.

What other Mac setting needs to changed so the MuseScore app will open and run?
