My calendar events keep disappearing

All of my scheduled iCal events keep disappearing and the ones I have accepted invitations to get declined. It has happened to me four times now in the past two weeks. I have gone into iCloud to recover the data, which doesn't always work on the first go. I am at the point where I have gone through all my backups. Why does this keep happening and how to stop it?
