Me and some friends recently went on a group vacation, and made a icloud photos album to share pictures. I have the link but it only opens on the icloud website and I can’t share any photos to it. My friend has it in the app as a normal shared album. Does anyone know how to open it in the app?

If you want to open a Shared album in the Photos.app, the owner has to send you an invitation to your AppleID you are using for iCloud as described here: How to use Shared Albums in Photos on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac - Apple Support (EG)
Invite more people
. When you receive the invitation on your iPhone in Mail, accept it, then enable Shared albums in the Settings > Your name >iCloud > Photos.
