iPad Countdown timer doesn't always work.

iPad, 9th Gen, iOS 16.2

I have an iPad that I purchased June, 2023.

For awhile now I've noticed that the timer doesn't always go OFF. At first I thought it was me forgetting to set the timer, but no, its not, it's the timer going down to ZERO but no sound.

Mostly, I use 2 different times, 5 minutes and 10 minutes. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. It's not that I change the volume or turn the volume OFF; never touch it.

My iPad gets turned OFF every night and then I turn it ON in the morning.

I haven't noticed any problems with the ALARM going OFF sounds. Also haven't noticed any problems with volume on YouTube vids.

Any idea what could be causing the iPad to NOT make a sound when the timer is down to ZERO?

iPad Air, iOS 8

If you have an iPad9 as described, you should first update your iPad to the current version of iPadOS - at time of writing, this being iPadOS 17.3.1.

System software updates include bug fixes, additional features - and essential security updates.

If your iPad is capable of update to a more recent version of iOS/iPadOS than is currently installed, these support pages outline both the available methods by which the update can be performed - and troubleshooting should you experience difficulties:

Update your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – Apple Support

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – Apple Support
