Difficulty in navigating through Books while reading on iPad after recent update.

After the last update iPadOS 16.7.5 I'm experincing a lot of difficulty navigating when reading my books I have downloaded to the iPad. The prompts that allowed me to go back to previous page is no longer there. The prompt telling me how many pages left in the chapter are also no longer there. There are times when I attempt to open "Books" that it bypasses the library where all my books are listed and immediately opens the last book I was reading. I then have to close out the "books" several times to get to my Library of books. This update has caused a lot of frustration.
