Google Maps update glitch loop and still no map default setting?!?

It has been my experience that Google maps is the first function that glitches when I’m passed due for a IOS update. I know it’s time, when I get stuck in an App Store GMs update page and safari. Round and round on the road, while trying to copy and paste the address into Maps. By now hopefully I’ve pulled over. This would be easy to solve if I could make Maps- Maps from the iPhone IOS the default app. Sitting here it just occurred to me that I must delete. I feel better.

is there really no way to set maps to the default navigation app?
