Highlighted text disappears instantly when searching

When I search text in Books and then click the found instance, Books takes me to the page and highlights the found instance for a split-second and disappears. This is problematic on pages full of text as most of the time the page hasn’t fully displayed before the highlight has disappeared, meaning I have to manually search the text. This is a relatively new problem as previously text would stay highlighted on the page and you could even click through multiple found instances. Is there a setting or something I need to change to have the full search and highlight feature available? Thank you
