i have reset my password on iphone but MAC not recognising it
i have tried for weeks to update my mac but it will not recognise the password even though I have changed it.

It's unclear exactly which "password" you have reset.
The "Related Article" that you see above your original post and - probably viewed before posting - has the guidance for changing your Apple ID password. This is the password for your iCloud account, and usually also your App Store account and your AppleTV, Music and other Apple accounts. This will NOT be the password you normally use to login to your Mac computer each time you restart it.

Maybe there is another different password that you're referring to?
