Playing 4K Apple TV movies on iMac

I'm trying to play my films purchased through apple TV app in 4k. But it's saying it's only 1080.

Why won't they playback at 4k ?or even give me the option. My settings are set to 'up to 4k' and the films purchased are in 4k.

Seems ridiculous a 4k tagged film purchased though the apple store in the apple TV on an apple imac won't playback in 4k!

I have spoken to apple support on this matter, there conclusion is that this is an issue with the operating system, others have had this issue but very few , I should wait till further updates are released.

My only problem is I have a brand new imac that can't play 4k HDR content through its own streaming service and the only response is to wait for a possible solution.

My screen resolution is set to the default. The tech info says the screen resolution is 4.5k ?

I did actually go Into display settings and set it to it's highest resolution, everything went really small , pretty much unusable as a desktop computer , and I tested a film and it still wasn't playing in 4k.

I really dont think youd have to change your screen resolution every time you want to play a 4k film?

YouTube can play 4k according to it's stats , so I don't understand why the apple TV app can't?

So their solution of wait for an update, might mean waiting a very long time by the sounds of it.

I actually think this is terrible on a neww product, no offer of refunds or replacements . Ill have to go into the apple store and see if any are actually running a 4k film. Think people might just not notice this and assume it works fine.

Giving this till the summer then I might just have to replace Or return .
