How can I stream Apple TV 4K HDR titles on MacBook Pro?

Hello all,

Does anyone know if the native TV app on MacOS actually streams titles in full quality? Wondering if it will stream up to 4K since the 14inch MBP doesn't meet or exceed that res.

Cheers

The screen resolution determines in large part what stream gets requested. You would need at least 3840×2160 pixels to get the 4K stream. If your MBP model has the connection (HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 or later) to output to an external 4K screen, then it could do so in 4K. For the built-in screen, you will get the 1080p stream, as it resolution is less than 4K. HDR would be available for 1080p as well as 4K, if available in the source.
