Unarchiving a zip doesn't work “Error identifying a writable temporary folder”

I've just migrated to my new mac. But now I can't open any .zip files. And i get the error:

“Error identifying a writable temporary folder”


MBP M2

OSX Sanoma 14.3.1

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.3

What software are you using...


Apple's default is Archive Utility.app

/System/Library/CoreServices/Applications/Archive Utility


try an alternative and compare your results, this would be informative.

I have been using mac's for many may years. but never had an issue with Archive Util


I just migrated and I am using iCloud Drive

Wonder if this has to do because of my iCloud Drive is enabled and syncing? Maybe as its syncing and does not allow changes?


So my question would be, When iCloud drive is Enabled should I work in:

Mac HD > Users > username > Documents

or

iCloud Drive > Documents

or

Does it not matter?
