Since encrypting messages has started on messenger, I have found, on my phone in messenger, I cant see when some of my friends were last active but if I access messenger on my laptop I can see when they were last active. This only happens for a few friends.

I wouldn't expect much from them. Remember, you are not their customer. You are the product they sell to their actual customers, i.e. paying advertisers.
Got the same problem on my iphone 14 pro. And i would like to add that on my mac, whilst status of certain friends shows normally on web app, it also doesn't show nothing on the messenger desktop version which i installed same just like on my phone. Both my mobile and desktop apps are up to date. Try changing show active status settings on and off on every versions but nothing solved it !!!! Someone got any fix yet???
Messenger is not an Apple product or service. Contact facebook for support of their products.
No I didnt get it sorted and I never heard back from facebook either. Mine still not working for certain people too - not sure what to do from here. Weird thing is, If I log in on a laptop I can see their active status, just not on my phone.

I've messaged messenger support a couple of times but no reply. I've uninstalled the app and made sure software is up to date but nothing changes. Maybe just a bug??

Yes exactly the same for me,only certain people and again log on laptop and I can see it,it’s annoying,also didn’t hear back from Facebook 😡

Think it is an apple problem as it works fine on my Samsung, just not my apple products
why does the people tab and active contacts disappear when I close the Messenger app but if I delete and reinstall it all comes back until I close the app then it all disappears again
