Air Printing to HP Laser Jet works some times

I have been printing out crossword puzzles from the LA Times and other sites on my HP Laser Jet printer for ages. About 4 or 5 months ago some times it would work and most times it would not. The usual error is instead of the 2 copies I asked for, I get one blank sheet, or 1sheet with half a page printed. If I try to print something else, I get a printer busy error on my iPad. Very occasionally it prints both copies like there is no problem. I can go to my directly connected PC and print them with no problems. And yes, I have the latest software on the printer, router, and iPad. And yes, I have restarted all my devices in the recommended order several times. My best recollection is that this started with the installation of IOS 17.

If you continue to have difficulties, check to see if your iPad is using the WiFi Private Address feature. This feature is intended to provide additional privacy and security when using “public” (untrusted) WiFi networks.

Settings > WiFi > [Your WiFi Network / SSID] - tap the “i” icon - Private Address

The Private Address feature is largely unnecessary for your home WiFi network; if enabled, Private Addressing can in some circumstances cause issues with AirPrint if specific MAC addresses are expected by your WiFi Router. You may need to disable this feature - and can be enabled or disabled for each individual network.
