After iOS 17.3.1 update my iPhone screen won't respond to touch

My phone restarted after the update and now I can't do anything to it. I can't even unlock the screen because the touch screen is not responding. I have hard reset it several times now, with no success, using up volume, down volume, hold side button. It turns back on with the same issue.

This comes on the heel of just a few days ago, my USB-C inexplicably stopped connecting, so now I can only charge wirelessly, and I can't connect my iphone to anything via cable either.

I have the exact same problem. After update to 17.3.1 I am unable to do anything at all with the phone. The screen is completely none responsive to screen touch.

Have done the vol up button, vol down button hold right side button until reset.... no change.

Cannot power off as it requires the slider to be moved on the screen and the screen is not working.

So I am stuck without a working device. Which is a disaster. Our lives are run directly from these devices.

Please advise a fix, quickly!!

If the touchscreen doesn't work and you cannot access the phone, how exactly does one "check the settings"?

I did an iCloud backup at 4:16 am on my iPhone 15 Pro Max and the phone and all apps, settings, etc. were working fine UNTIL I did the update to IOS 17.3.1 at 6:45 am this morning. I have restarted the phone several times, I have tried the Apple Configurator on the MacBook and nothing.

Any other ideas?

Had the same issue immediately after updating to IOS 17.3.1 with a iPhone 15. Tried the special (DFU?) reboot many times, just holding the power button down and phone cycling through one reboot after another, and no change. Hooked phone up to iTunes, and iTunes immediately said phone was in DFU mode. Looked like the only option was to Restore the phone, so we chose that option, resetting all data. Eventually the Restore failed, but it took the phone out of DFU mode, so it's back to normal operation now. And we still have our data.

Phew!!

Hope those steps help someone out there with this issue.

We immediately backed up the phone as we never had before on this phone. Backups Backups Backups!!!

Restarted my wife's phone again yesterday (no updates installed since 17.3.1), and went into Frozen Screen on boot / DFU mode. Had to bring the phone back up in iTunes, and chose Restore again, which failed again, but took the phone out of DFU Mode.

I went ahead and took a backup of the phone, reset it, and then restored the backup (along with an upgrade to 17.4 which she's been paranoid about). Will see if this resolves the Frozen Screen / DFU mode thing for good.

She's ready to give her iPhone 15 back, and downgrade to her old 12.

Iphone Scandal and rudeness to customers

Phone was working yesterday morning, until I updated my phone and then suddenly nothing wouldn't respond at all, took it too Apple they ran a check as apparently they had never seen anything like that, the scan came back clear but then turned to me and was like "oh for us to fix it will be £500 not including VAT". And told me that I obviously don't look after my phone very well due to crack on it, which i pointed out was the screen protector)I left Apple shocked at the cost and went to my phone provider who turned to me and was lucky to find I'm still under there warranty so don't have to fork out over £600+ for it. However, my provider, needed it factory reset which meant going back to Apple, so had to come back in today at 10:30am to do that and went straight for Apple, when i asked about getting it reset I was told it would be a 3/4 hour wait or longer due to high demand. Normally, I would agree however, when I got there was no customers in sales or in the Genius Bar. So I had to wait around my local city in total for a total of 3 and a half hours before getting my text and at this time the UK is experiencing heat of 26 degrees and upwards and with little shade is very hard to find any. When I went back to apple at my time they told me that I would be charged for the factory reset due to being able to do it myself, to which I told them I could not do it myself due to screen not responding, there solution was for me to " treat myself and upgrade to an iPhone 15 pro max" I was fuming and I'm now debating my loyalty due to them obviously knowing about this as an issue and not being truthful and trying to make me buy a new device. 00.5/10

Same issue with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. After the update my screen is unresponsive. I tried the reset with Vol +/- then power button several times to no avail. Tried holding both buttons down and it initiated a 911 call that I couldn't stop since screen is unresponsive.

I rely on this phone for 2FA at work, so I'm dead in the water until I can get this resolved.

Please help!!

iOS updates generally aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. Touch sensitivity issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors.
