My mail app in my MacBook Pro will not send emails.

My mail app in my MacBook Pro (2019) will not send emails, it just stays in the outbox or just continues to try to send them. I ran the mail connection doctor, and it says SMTP is not working, the IMAP is working fine. It has been like this for over a month. I can receive and see the emails, but I am not able to respond to them through the app. Any suggestions?

As the screenshot shows:

Seems you need to "check your internet connection in the Account preferences".

To view these preferences, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Internet Accounts.

If needed: Change Internet Accounts preferences on Mac - Apple Support


Also "verify that the server supports SSL ... if it does not " ... the instructions are there.

For Mac OS 10.15

(or choose a later MacOS version at the top of the articles below if you have updated MacOS)

You may want to check with your eMail provider (eg: Yahoo, GMail etc ... in "Support" or "Help" on their website) for the STMP settings that should be in use and working.
