Apple Journal entries disappeared on my iPhone 14 Pro Max

all My journal entries disappeared last night on the new update ! Did anyone solve this issue 3 months I have been using it and on it so much personal and important notes. Important legal notes Someone please help !!!!

Same issue here. I moved my data into a brand new iPhone through iCloud backup. Now most of my previous journal entries don’t show pictures anymore.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

I don't know if it has something to do with the iOS version or iCloud.

I've recently started subscribing to iCloud, and that happened in a few days after my subscription.

I'm so disappointed because if they didn't release the app I would have wrote them somewhere else.

I have such crucial data regarding my health record :(

What's your iOS version? I'm going to try updating my iOS to the newest. Hopefully it works.

I’ve been writing on Notes app for past 7/8 years about some of my thoughts and sometimes other unimportant stuffs. Nearly a month ago, I shifted all the important writings to the journal app along with their actual dates (written) and deleted those from notes. A week ago, I started taking backup of my iPhone and also made the option “On” for Journal app under the section “APPS USING ICLOUD”. Now today after entering into the journal app and finishing writing a new entry, I noticed, I’ve no past entries left other than the one I just finished writing. I’m using iOS 17.4 and really saddened with what I just witnessed. Those were not just pieces of texts rather my utmost precious moments that I tried to articulate every now and then. I can’t even find them in online iCloud drive. I mean then what’s the purpose of backing up?!!

I got a new phone and transferred my data with icloud backup and now all my journal entries are missing. I checked the settings and it said journal entries were backed up by icloud. This is heartbreaking and I'll never use this app again or trust iCloud.

Same here. My app crashed when i pasted a quote from gmail to one of my entries.

Had to reinstall the app.

Suddenly realised that my entries then disappeared. So sad.

I thought it saved somewhere because i moved to a new phone and could access them. But now after it crashed all seems to have gone missing.

Same here! I assumed the Journal app would work like the Notes app and sync across devices but I recently replaced my iPhone and I am devastated to see that none of my old entries exist. What even is the point of the app if its not guaranteed to save your data? Might as well just use paper the old fashioned way or honestly even the secured feature on Notes app. I only write journal entries about things I REALLY want to remember, very meaningful or impactful moments which I spend a lot of time reflecting on. But now they are lost forever.

I experienced the same issue around the same time as others have mentioned after ios update. I'm starting to wonder if Apple is even aware or concerned about this problem, as there has been no official response or acknowledgement yet.

I had this issue. I signed out of my Apple ID on my iPhone then signed in again and it fixed it.
