forgot password, and no reset password shows, and tried the recommended things if the website does not work

Tried all the steps that apple’s website recommends, but the only thing see is the log in screen. No matter what i do and if i restart or shut it down. I also cant change users. Additionally, I got this Macbook air a week ago so it shouldn’t be a technical issue.

Forgotten Password My daughter gave me her old MacBook Air (+-2012). She put it back to factory settings. Its not connected to Apple ID. I have forgotten my password and now can't login. After three attempts I am shown HINT but am not given the option to reset my password. I have tried CMD R but I just see a lock symbol and no further options.
