iphone 8 speaker issue

my phone does what i tell it to with voice commands and Siri answers me when i try to speak to her, but my audio is not being picked up on certain things. when on call either from my phone number or my messenger app, the person on the other side cannot hear me even though i hear everything fine, and nothing i say or the noises around me can be heard in any videos i take on snapchat or instagram. instead, it sounds like static. i also tried recording a video on my actual camera app, but there was no issues there. as far as i am aware, this was not a problem yesterday, and there is no external cause i can think of that would be creating the issue (such as a fall, water damage, etc.) anyone know what the problem may be?
