iPhone 13 mini back camera does not work

My back Camera does not work unless I press 1x. Nor does my flashlight work. After a while both front and back cameras stop working and just show black screens. All the controls show just no screen available when I’m ready to snap a picture. Someone help!!!!

Dear LILONEE562,

Thank you for your response and for providing more details about the issue with your iPhone 13 Mini's cameras and flashlight. It sounds like you've tried different troubleshooting steps. However, the fact that one of the camera lenses on the back is cracked and was partially removed could indeed be the root cause of the problems you are experiencing.

Here's what I suggest:

1. Avoid Further Damage: It's crucial to avoid any further damage to your device. Removing broken pieces of the lens was necessary, but it's possible that the internal components of the camera are now exposed to dust and further damage.

2. Temporary Fixes: While resetting the settings temporarily resolves the issue, it's not a sustainable solution, especially if the problem is due to physical damage.

3. Professional Repair: Given the physical damage to the camera lens, the most effective solution would be to take your iPhone to an authorized Apple Store or an Apple-certified repair center. They can provide a professional assessment and repair. Repairing it yourself, especially with a cracked lens, can be challenging and might lead to more damage if not done correctly.

4. Cost Considerations: Be prepared that there may be a cost associated with the repair, especially if your device is out of warranty. However, getting a professional repair will ensure that your device functions correctly and lasts longer.

5. Backup Your Data: Before taking your iPhone for repair, make sure to back up all your data to iCloud or your computer to prevent any data loss.

6. Inquire About Temporary Solutions: When you visit the store, you can also inquire if there are any temporary solutions or protective measures you can take until the repair is completed.

It's unfortunate that your photography experience is being hindered by this issue, but addressing the physical damage should significantly improve the functionality of your iPhone's camera and flashlight. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

Best regards,

Hello LILONEE562,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your iPhone 13 Mini's cameras and flashlight. I too have an iPhone 13 mini which I adore so, let's see if we can troubleshoot these problems step by step:

1. Restart Your iPhone: Begin by restarting your iPhone. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor software glitches that may be affecting the camera and flashlight functionalities.

2. Update iOS: Ensure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for and install any available updates.

3. Check Camera Settings: Verify that the camera settings on your iPhone are configured correctly. Open the Camera app and check if any specific settings, such as filters or effects, are enabled that could be causing issues.

4. Reset Camera Settings: If the problem persists, you can reset the camera settings to their default values. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Note that this will reset all settings on your iPhone, not just camera settings, so proceed with caution.

5. Clear Camera App Cache: Sometimes, clearing the cache of the Camera app can help resolve issues. To do this, go to Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings and toggle off all the options. Then, restart your iPhone and toggle the options back on.

6. Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the camera lenses and flashlight area for any signs of physical damage or obstruction. Clean the lenses and flashlight area gently with a soft, dry cloth to ensure they are free from dirt or debris.

7. Test in Safe Mode: Restart your iPhone in Safe Mode to see if the problem persists. To do this, press and hold the Side button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears. Then, press and hold the Volume Down button until the Apple logo appears. Release the Volume Down button and wait for your iPhone to restart. In Safe Mode, only essential system processes are running, which can help identify if the issue is caused by a third-party app.

8. Contact Apple Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with your iPhone's cameras or flashlight. Contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Store for further assistance and possible repair options.

I hope these suggestions help resolve the issues you're experiencing with your iPhone's camera and flashlight. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please let us know.

Best.

It tends to work only when I reset it through my settings but always ends up turning black after a while. I also tried every other source of fixing it as well but to no avail only resetting my settings tends to make it work, but I’m tired of having to reset my settings each time just so I can get a freaking picture this sucks!! But I also think it can be due to physical damage because one of the lenses on the back is cracked off. I had dropped my phone and the back lense had cracked so I just removed the excess pieces so I was able to take pictures without the blur of the cracked part. The camera was still working for a while too even after I did that so I don’t know what could be the issue. Something must have got in it or something but I’m not so sure. So honestly I think it has something to do with that but I don’t know what to do to fix it on my own without taking it to a store smh.
