How to fix touchscreen problems on iPad after iPadOS 17.3.1 Update

After doing the IOS 17.3.1 update last night, I can’t access my touchscreen. I can tap to activate it, but it will not allow me to log in or do any touch sensitive things such as Enter my password, Swipe up to log in nor Shutdown to reboot. Any suggestions except allowing the battery to die in order to reboot?

If your iPad is screen is unresponsive, connect your iPad to its Power Adapter and allow the iPad to charge. Then, while still connected to external power, try a forced-restart:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

If iPad doesn’t turn on, or if it gets stuck during start up, see the Apple Support article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on or is frozen. Or if your iPad isn’t working correctly after you restart it, see the iPad Support website.
