As none of the end users here know what underlying technology was used to create and support your paper's web site, it is hard to remotely diagnose this.
I think you have to contact your papers support people first. It is possible they changed something, inducing a bug. The fact that you have been able to reach the site before without issue suggests someone at their end "fouled the footpath."
Have you tried a different browser like FireFox to see if the problem persists?
Can you confirm this involves the Macbook Air running macOS 14.3 as shown in your equipment line. I have to ask because a forum software bug shows the wrong equipment about half the time.
What you can do from your end is to make sure that:
- you restart the computer and test.
- you are not running any anti-virus, so-called "cleaning" apps, or client-side VPNs.
- that your storage has at least 15% free space. (from "About this Mac... > Storage tab)
- that you are not running more than one ad blocker.
