Joining Apple family when my Apple Music is through Verizon Get More

I currently have a Verizon unlimited plan called Get More, which is no longer available. That includes an individual Apple Music subscription, which I use. I would like to join/start an Apple family in order to take advantage of sharing Apple TV+ and Apple News+, but my family is NOT interested in Apple Music, and I don't particularly want to pay the additional cost for a Music family plan. Can I create a family and keep my Music subscription as is, or will it automatically convert when I join the family? If it converts, will I be charged the entire amount, or only the difference between Individual and family? I am not interested in switching to one of the newer Verizon plans that lets me add Family Music for $10. And I am afraid that if I am moved to Apple Family Music, I will lose the free subscription through Verizon. Thanks
