Issue at date and time in macbook

Are you running any anti-virus apps, cleaning/optimizer apps, or third party security software? If so, then they may be interfering. I would uninstall them by following the developer's instructions since these types of apps are not needed on a Mac and usually cause more problems than they solve.

Try booting into Safe Mode to see if you can configure it properly. If Safe Mode works, then you most likely have some third party software installed which is interfering with the normal operation of macOS.

Try clearing the NVRAM by using the following command within the Terminal app:

sudo  nvram  -c

This command will prompt you for your admin password. Nothing will appear on the screen as you type your password, so press the "Return" key to submit the password. You may see one to three errors listed which may be related to the computer name....that is Ok, but if you see some other error, then the command may not have been successful. After successfully using this command you need to restart the computer so it will use the default NVRAM settings. You will need to reselect your default Startup Disk after rebooting since that setting will be wiped from clearing the NVRAM.

Most times I find toggling network time off & back on is enough to trigger an update. Once in a while I need to manually configure the date & time first, then re-enable network time servers. Have you tried rebooting the laptop again, then trying to reset the date & time?

How far off is the date & time? Check to make sure you have the correct time zone selected.
