I have a security app for my cameras. Because the default sound is no longer loud and not an extended tone I have missed security activations.
This is absolutely unacceptable. If this can’t be fixed I will forced to move to a different platform.
I don’t want to move, but I can not have the app continuing to not be able to alert me to activations of the important security system.
Apple…. FIX THIS! Please!!!!!

Lack of the ability to set a specific Notification sound for your security App is a limitation of the App itself - and is not a limitation of iPadOS.
Consider asking the respective App Developer to add custom Notifications to their App:

If you are running iPadOS 17.x, ensure that you have updated to the most recent version of iPadOS - currently iPadOS 17.3.1.
iOS/iPadOS 17.2 and later have introduced the ability to select, in settings, the default Notification sound of your choice.
To absolutely clear - unless an App is specifically coded by its Developer to expose custom notification settings, you have never been able to configure a specific Notification sound for third-party Apps.

I do take some exception to your comment.
The iOS and app functioned quite well until Apple chose to remove the function.
So let’s be real here.
This is an Apple issue that moved the responsibility to other app providers.
in essence, this is a limitation imposed by Apple changes to iOS.
A single default sound does help, however, not having a unique sound for the security app will require a same high level urgency for multiple apps. This is not the best option.
