Dark Mode in Pages workaround

Hi, I was looking for some info on how to enable dark mode in pages, and was unable to find an answer here. After a little more research in the app, I discovered a workaround:

Go to the Pages Menu

Go to Preferences

Go to Settings

Under "For New Documents" click on "Use template" then:

Click on Change Template

Scroll through the templates, and choose "Blank Black"

Now anytime you use a new document, it will be black. Just ensure you save it on a white background template if you plan to print it or send it electronically without "dark mode"

Hopefully this helps those of you, like me, who can't stand working on a white background!

You left out export to PDF or Word as those backgrounds will also be impacted by using a black template. One would have to have another normal Blank template Pages document open and copy/paste the default white text from the black template onto the white document where the white text vanishes. One would need to select that white text and change it back to black text.

That is considerable effort when one could simply use the preferences setting for dark mode in MS Word, or LibreOffice Writer without all of the extra work of converting back to a white document with normal text appearance.

Hopefully this helps those of you, like me, who can't stand working on a white background!

How it is exported was implicit when I stated you needed to save a copy on white background for printing or sending out. Yes, naturally you need to change text color - that took me about ten seconds to copy, paste, and change text color. It probably took you more effort to write your reply honestly.

As for using other apps, that’s a bit moot, considering the point here was how to work in Pages - not MS Word. Not everyone uses other apps or has access, though I agree I prefer those. Right now, for example, I’m on a machine (not my own) that only allows Pages. Certainly, we should all be aware other apps aren’t limited the way Pages is. However, the workaround here is for those who are limited to Pages.
