Receiving virus threat while opening Pinterest on iPhone

I’m having problems with Pinterest. Every time I try to ‘visit’ a site I get a message saying that my iPhone has been hacked. There are two. One says that, if I don’t click on the link and install a certain app all my details and photos will be sent to my contacts. The other says I have been infected with 16 viruses and gives me two minutes to click on the link before all the information on my iPhone is stolen.

I think it is a scam but it is stopping me from using Pinterest as it keeps popping up.

I haven’t clicked on any links. Has anyone else had this?

Thanks.

It’s an ad being served to you by the website.

It is trying to scare you into buying useless software or steal your data.

try this:

Clear the history, cache, and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then Install an ad blocker.
