I have two hundred rows I need to sum in a spread sheet. This is easy to do in Excel, but how do I do it in Numbers? Numbers doesn't want to do more than one row at a time, and keeps switching from rows to columns. This spread sheet is not in columns.

No need to shout. If you are using SUM in Excel, it works the exact same way in Numbers. Almost all functions work the exact same way, except for Excel "array" functions and some other functions that are not supported.
=SUM(B1:B20) will sum cells B1 through B20
=SUM(B) will sum all cells in column B other than the header and footer rows, if there are any.
I do not know what "keeps switching from rows to columns". What is switching? You'll have to show and tell more for us to provide any additional help.

I still don't know what you mean by "switching". If I select cells in a single row, the SUM function will give me a sum of all those cells. If I select cells in 2 rows, it gives me one sum that is all of the selected cells in those 2 rows. This is exactly how Excel works, too, and you are comparing it to Excel so I remain confused.
Do you want each row to have its own sum of the cells on that row?
formula in G2 =SUM(B2:F2)
Drag/fill or copy/paste to the rest of the column to get separate sums for all the other rows.

If a formula is in a Header Column, it will refer to all Body Cells in that Row.
Formula in B2 is SUM(2:2)
Fill down.
If you add more columns, the formula will automatically adjust to include those extra Body Cells:

I have well over a hundred rows that needed to be summed. If I did one row at a time, it would sum that one row. I tried to highlight two adjacent rows in an attempt to see if I could get both of them to sum at the same time. Unfortunately, Numbers would add them together as columns, rather than as rows. That's what I was talking about as switching. I ended up doing each row by hand, one at a time. It seems to me that this was easier at one time with what was probably an older version of Numbers.
How do I calculate a hundred rows on Apple Numbers?
