Hello, several of you responded to my original question re a firewire to usb adapter. I wondered why it was not working. Then I found out firewire to usb is not a real thing, just a piece of gack from eBay. This question was in relation to fried usb ports on a 2009 iMac - I since found that although external usb drives will no longer work a stick drive still is ok, well that is something.

Now, I posted another question when my original question could not be found - "Where the heck did my question go?" Unfortunately this second question has also gone - neither of these two question appear in my newish profile. I did receive an automated email though with the response:-

"We removed your post "Where the heck is my question I already asked?" because you posted, or responded to a post, two or more times with the same information." I perhaps responded once to the first reply and then received a second reply. I can understand that these sort of databases and rules are never perfect, but, What the bleedin heck! eh?

I will know in future just to keep the page open if I ever post another question, and not expect to just log in and find it. Finally I would not have thought it possible to have one apple ID and thereby make two Discussions:Apple user profiles, but then again who knows. Thanks to whoever responded previously.
