If you simply wish to start again with the iPad, no data will be lost from your iPhone.

On your iPad, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Erase all Contents and Settings.
You may be asked for your Apple ID Password or Passcode used to set the device up. Doing this will not affect anything on your iPhone.

This advice unfortunately missing the essential step of first removing the Activation Lock - that will, if not removed prior to erasing the iPad, cause subsequent difficulties when using a different AppleID.
