recovery installer restarts before finishing

MacBook Pro 13” 2015. was running Monterey and couldn’t install update and i was getting “hash volume mismatch something should be installed disk1s1” and computer was restarting because of a problem. I wiped the Mac from disk utility and tried to install original

operating system (el capitan) and it keeps shutting down before I can install it.

the computer couldn’t find a disk to install to until I reset the PRAM and then it booted up and was installing it with 10 minutes remaining. however, it seems like it will finish but then i get black screen with apple logo and loading bar.

I made a bootable installer on a USB with high sierra on it, this has also failed.

I had been doing first aids on the volumes and one was saying “partition might have problems that will prevent booting.” I also had kernel panic after the first time installing the OS X and got stuck entering a “disk password” screen that would kernel panic every time i logged in.

anybody know what’s happening?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.6

Most likely the memory is bad. Unfortunately the memory on the Retina models is soldered onto the Logic Board so it is probably time to retire this laptop. I just assisted another user the other day with a 2015 laptop which had the "Volume mismatch error" and the test found memory errors. Most of the other occurrences of this error have been with 2019 models...again with several users confirming that Apple found memory errors with the service diagnostics.

You can try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected, but its memory test is very quick & basic. You can also try running creating & running a bootable Memtest86 USB stick which can perform longer & more thorough memory testing, but even it won't always show errors even when memory is actually bad. I know people like to have some other confirmation besides some unknown person online....hopefully one of these will confirm it for you, but if they don't show any errors does it does not follow that the memory is good. I've run memory testes 24/7 for several days before a error occurred, other times no errors, but replacing/removing the bad module fixed the problem at the time.

Sorry for the bad news.
