I cannot use my iphone 12 and cannot even turn it off. For the past 2 hours, the screen has been stuck on “verifying update”. I tried the solution in the Support Community (press and release left-side Up button, press and release Down button, hold right side button until the apple logo appears. Apple logo never appeared, even after a couple of minutes.

Verify that you are using the correct instructions to Force Restart the iPhone shown here. Force restart iPhone - Apple Support Make sure that you do the steps quickly, then hold the side button until the Apple logo appears. It can take up to 30 seconds or more.
