Motu Ultralite mk3 hybrid Video Recording issues using Quicktime on Macbook Air M2
Hi,
How to adjust the number of MOTU Audio channels that Quicktime uses on Macboook air m2 as audio input/mic when recording videos in 'max' quality?
Here is some background to my question:
I have faced a similar issue as described in the discussion above. I have connected the Motu ultralite mk3 hybrid with the Macbook in Audio-Midi and it does record and play back videos with my applications - however, QT does not 'play back' its own video when recorded using the 'max' Quality setting:
yes, you have read it correctly - QT cannot play the video it recorded.
As stated in this thread, I can save it and play (or convert) it in another APP like VLC etc.
Interestingly, if I record a QT video using the 'high' quality setting (rather than 'max') the video does both record AND play back fine in QT. Why? What is different when using the 'max' quality option?
I checked the 'get info' of QT video files recorded using 'max' vs files recorded using 'high' and found that 'high' records only 8 channels while 'max' records all 14 channels (thats the total number of channels of the MOTU ultralite.
Second, I checked if a 'max' Quality video recording will record and play in QT if I use a different mic input instead of MOTU so I changed the QT mic input to my Logitech BRIO webcam's - and, loh and behold - the recording did play back fine!
It looks like QT cannot play the 14 audio tracks it records from the mic input Motu ultralite mk3 when using the 'max' Quality option.
I also checked if recording Audio only using 'max' quality. Audio recordings do not seem to have this problem, at least in my case they were playing fine using QT.
So my question is:
I am looking for a way to reduce the MOTU channels to a number that QT can actually handle. Answers are more than welcome.
