This looks very wonky to me!
First thing I'd try is rebooting into Safe Mode, giving it at least 5-10 minutes, as this will clear several caches and do a lot of "behind the scenes" cleanups. Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support
After this, do a normal reboot and check again.
To get a more accurate view of the Drive and what is being used and / or free space on the drive
Use Disk Utilities >>> View all devices
Often times the Reported Space Used by Application can be attributed so some Third Party Disk Cleaner or Third Party Disk Optimizer Applications
I tried this a couple of times. Gained 2GB but still getting nowhere to reducing the amount of storage app is taking. Did a manual calc and app folder size is no more than 26GB that now showing 340GB.
So restarting with safe mode I gained 2GB off total SSD, app folder sized down by abt 9GB. Leaves me with 30GB free. But something def wrong.
Am backing up everything now & will do a clean slate over the weekend.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks for the suggestion. Did that but not really sure what I'm looking at. It's pretty much the same thing with storage in setting.
