Recently my dad purchased a MacBook Air with the three year insurance. It came out to be about $1,800. Today he was hit with an extra $200 charge from Apple saying they charged him for the insurance on the MacBook. So now he was charged a total of about $2,000. Why is there an extra insurance fee if the previous $1,800 already included the insurance charge?
We are all other end users and not Apple suport here. Applecare is always billed separately as an add-on and it is not insurance. It is a 2 year extension of the 1 year factory warranty. You need to deal with Apple and/or the third party seller you bought it from.
That seems very expensive.
Did you get AppleCare+ ?
I can't remember what I paid but the current cost for a MacBook Air M2 13" is £199 for 3 years. The costliest MacBook plan is £399. I'm wondering if they have different AppleCare+ plans in the USA.
