Thinking of buying a 16" MacBook Pro M1 Pro (MK183B/A) - How long will it last?

I'm having to ditch my trusty Mid 2014 MacBook Pro, because Apple no longer cares about it. I can't load the latest Mac OS and some of the major tools I use (Illustrator, Photoshop Microsoft 360, etc) require the latest OS. Shame on you Apple.

So, anyway, I'm thinking of buying a 16" MacBook Pro M1 Pro. Now this isn't the latest superdooper M3 MacBook, so my question is; How long can I expect it to be supported by Apple?

Ideally, I'd like at least ten years out of it before I have to get a new one.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.7

? your 2014 mac is 10 years old... ancient history in the computer world— has nothing to do with Apple being shameful, seems naive to think so, third party apps simply can not cater to old hardware forever. Not sure where you go that idea.

you think it should be different—submit your Apple Feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback

It was meant to be bit tongue in cheek, but here I am sitting in front of a perfectly serviceable chunk of hardware that has been made obsolete by the software. A lot of time, energy and material have been invested in the construction of this beautiful machine, yet it is destined for the scrap heap after a few scant years. Should we really just have to put up with this? I think Apple could do better; feedback submitted.

Thanks for the links by the way.

Yes, because Apple are the ones who keep updating the OS! If there wasn't a new OS, then the vendors wouldn't have to update their software to suit.

Can't argue with that logic. Apple clearly needs to stop updating the OS. Gotcha 👍

Anyway, coming back to the original question. If I buy the MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro processor, how long can I realistically expect it to last before it becomes obsolete?
