Color Correction tool suddenly without guides

Hi

When bringing up color correction tools via CMD + 7, suddenly, the numbers and charts I'd chosen previously and used regularly were swapped out for different ones, and when re-picking the ones I wanted, saw that there were no numbers for guides. How strange. For instance, using the Luminance tool, values from 0 to 100 are absent.

Anything to do?

How do I trash preferences?

To delete FCP preferences, hold option and command while launching FCP, then select Delete Preferences... in the dialog. It will dump a diagnostics file on your desktop (which you can delete) and open FCP in a default state with the Untitled library. Re-open the library you were working on, reset the prefs to the way you like (disable background rendering, etc.) and see if the issue has been resolved.

Thank you, mr. terryb, for your reply. I had a brainfart and couldn't visualize where the preferences were. Of course right after I posted, I realized where the prefs were and took care of them. But your way is a really good one.

Unfortunately, the issue was not resolved. Very strange. When I reopened, I was asked if I wanted to see what's new in FCP, which is what happens after an update, so I wonder if that installation, which I don't recall acceding to happening automatically—tho maybe that's what happens when you trash the prefs—should be investigated as a cause.

Thanks again, o noble dude, much appreciated.

That "what's new" is shown whenever you delete the preferences, and it does not indicate any new installation.

Do please post screenshots as LocaAlicia requested, so we can see what you are seeing.
