Unable to match iPhone to Macbook Air

When I try to connect the iPhone (iPhone SE) to my Macbook Air 2017 (Monterey)I get the message" the file could not be found" and I cannot download photos or access iTunes

Monterey doesn't have iTunes. Instead, you use the Music and TV applications to manage your media database and the Finder to do "manual" synchronization with an iPhone.
